FAQ’s

LASH LIFTS

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A LASH LIFT?
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lashes. Avoid using waterproof mascara 24 hours before your appointment.

HOW LONG DOES A LASH LIFT LAST?
A lash lift can last 6-8 weeks, depending on your lash growth cycle.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A LASH LIFT TREATMENT?
Your lashes will be curled and set using a lifting solution. The process takes about 45-60 minutes and is painless.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER A LASH LIFT?
Avoid getting your lashes wet, applying mascara, or using oil-based products on your lashes for 24 hours after the treatment.

WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
It’s a lifting technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 6 to 8 weeks! To top off the treatment, we can apply a black lash tint which really makes your lashes look more prominent. The procedure takes about 45 to 60 mins to complete. It really is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!

IS THIS LIKE LASH EXTENSION WHERE THEY WILL LOOK DRAMATICALLY THICKER?
Lash extensions and lash lifts are two totally different treatments. We will not be adding any additional lashes to you. We will simply be curling your natural lashes. That said, for most, it can make your lashes appear fuller because they are so uplifted.

WHAT ARE THE POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS?
Pretty simple: Don’t get your lashes wet or apply anything at all to them for 24 hours. Steer clear of waterproof mascara the entire life of your Lift. Brush out the lashes daily.

IS THERE ANY MAINTENANCE?
None! You don’t have to do anything special with your lashes in between lifts other than giving them a good brush out daily and stay away from waterproof mascara.

WILL THIS DAMAGE MY EYELASHES?
No, if you follow all the advice on Pre-prep and Post care. The lifting solutions are only applied to the new growth area of the lashes, down towards the base and up a bit. Never to the ends of the lashes.

CAN I HAVE A LASH LIFT IF I’M PREGNANT?
As per the manufacturer guidelines, we suggest not during the first trimester. Lash lifting is a very low-risk procedure, though it has not been tested thoroughly during the first trimester of pregnancy. Beyond 13 weeks, lash lifting is absolutely fine! The solution has been tested and proven to be fine during pregnancy – though the only consideration is that during pregnancy, hormones often alter your hair structure, and this can cause potential issues with lash lifting. We have many pregnant lash lift clients, though it’s important that you let your stylist know you’re expecting so we can alter processing times in consideration of this.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT LAST?
Depending on the length and quality of your natural lashes, the lift can last for 6 to 8 weeks.

CAN I GET A LASH LIFT IF I HAVE VERY SHORT LASHES?
Yes, a lash lift can enhance short lashes by making them appear more lifted and curled. However, the effect might not be as dramatic as with longer lashes.

CAN I USE A GROWTH SERUM AFTER A LASH LIFT?
Yes, but wait at least 24-48 hours after the lift before applying any serums to avoid interfering with the setting process.

CAN I COMBINE A LASH LIFT WITH EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
It’s not recommended to combine both treatments simultaneously. A lash lift should be done separately from extensions to avoid damage.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS AND HOW ARE THEY APPLIED?
Eyelash extensions are single synthetic/man-made lashes applied directly to the natural lash, close to (but not touching) the lash line with a semi-permanent bonding adhesive. A single extension, or up to 5-7 super fine extensions, is applied to a single isolated lash, leaving the eyelashes and eyelids to move freely. They are applied carefully, one by one, using specially designed tweezers. The whole process normally takes 1 – 2.5 hours, depending on how many lashes are applied and the set type.

HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
The short answer: Roughly 5-6 weeks before every lash sheds; you’ll need infills at 2-4 weeks.

The long (and better!) answer: There are many factors at play here, including your individual lash cycle and your aftercare. You might be surprised to learn that everyone’s lashes have a life cycle and shed, just like the hair on your head! Once a natural lash’s life cycle is complete, the lash falls out naturally, taking the extension with it. Everyone’s lash cycle is a little different, but on average, you should be experiencing a turnover of your natural lashes every six weeks or so.

If you want to maintain your lash extensions, we recommend refilling your lash set approximately every 2 – 4 weeks. By this stage, some lashes would have fallen out as new lashes have grown through. In an infill appointment, we carefully replace these fallen extensions with brand new ones! If you care properly for your lashes, your extensions will last longer (i.e., remove makeup correctly, don’t wear mascara, avoid oily products on your face, and avoid tugging/pulling at your eyelash extensions). Some clients who take extra good care of their lashes get four weeks before they need infills! If you happen to have very oily skin, you will normally need infills more regularly.

ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SAFE TO GET IF I’M PREGNANT?
Generally speaking, eyelash extensions are a safe and non-invasive cosmetic procedure. The Lash Bar Boutique uses a high-quality, low-fume adhesive that is manufactured specifically for cosmetic use near the eye, and the adhesive is applied to your lash hairs rather than your skin. Allergic reactions to the adhesive are very rare and can be easily treated if they manifest. In saying this, if you are pregnant and have never had eyelash extensions before or have never been to The Lash Bar Boutique and used our glue products, we strongly recommend a patch test before your treatment. This patch test must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the booking.

Why do we need to patch test before proceeding? Firstly, the lash extension procedure requires you to lay flat on your back for over one hour; a position that is not recommended for women in the advanced stages of pregnancy. It also requires that you lie quite still – which can be hard if you’re heavily pregnant! The patch test gives you a chance to see what it’s like lying in that position for a short time, so that you can gauge how well your body will respond to a prolonged appointment. Secondly, if you are unlucky enough to have an allergic reaction, your doctor may not be able to give you the required treatment due to your pregnancy. So, we highly recommend a patch test first before proceeding.

Please note: If we have been doing your lashes here at The Lash Bar Boutique and you become pregnant, there’s no problem continuing with the extensions – just let us know so that we can make sure you are comfortable at all times! You’d already be familiar with all of our products and glue, so reactions are far less likely to manifest.

CAN I STILL WEAR GLASSES OR SUNGLASSES AFTER GETTING EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Yes, but it’s essential to ensure the extensions are not too long, as they might brush against your lenses. Inform your technician if you wear glasses regularly so they can adjust the length accordingly.

CAN I CRY WITH EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Yes, crying won’t ruin your extensions once they’re fully set (after the first 24 hours). However, excessive crying or rubbing your eyes can weaken the adhesive.

CAN I STILL USE AN EYELASH CURLER WITH EXTENSIONS?
No, using a traditional eyelash curler can damage the extensions and your natural lashes. Extensions are pre-curled, so there's no need to use a curler.

BROW LAMINATION

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR BROW LAMINATION?
Arrive with clean, makeup-free brows. Avoid plucking or waxing your brows a few days before the treatment.

HOW LONG DOES BROW LAMINATION LAST?
Brow lamination can last 6-8 weeks with proper aftercare.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE BROW LAMINATION PROCESS?
The treatment involves applying a series of lotions to straighten and set your brow hairs in the desired shape. The process takes about 45 minutes.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER BROW LAMINATION?
Avoid getting your brows wet, sweating excessively, or applying makeup to the brow area for 24 hours after the treatment.

MY EYEBROWS ARE SUPER CURLY AND MESSY; WILL A BROW LAMINATION WORK FOR ME?
Absolutely! In fact, this service will probably be perfect for you – it can be used to tame them into a sleeker, neater shape. We will also trim, tweeze, and tint in your appointment – your unruly brows can be tamed into the brows of your dreams!

DOES BROW LAMINATION WORK ON SPARSE/THIN BROWS?
Unlike many of our other services (henna, tinting, cosmetic tattoo), this one is much better for those who have naturally quite thick/full brows. If your brows are very sparse, particularly those that are missing the underside/have a hooked look, or where the hairs are quite far apart over a wide area, it just doesn’t seem to give the desired result – therefore, we don’t recommend it for very thin or sparse brows. You are always more than welcome to send us a photo of your eyebrows, and one of our brow specialists can advise you.

CAN BROW LAMINATION MAKE MY BROWS LOOK TOO BUSHY?
Brow lamination can give a fuller look, but it’s customizable. If you prefer a more natural appearance, your technician can adjust the styling.

CAN I GET BROW LAMINATION IF I HAVE SCAR TISSUE IN MY BROW AREA?
Yes, lamination can help make the scar less noticeable by redirecting the brow hairs. However, results may vary depending on the scar's severity.

CAN BROW LAMINATION CAUSE MY BROW HAIRS TO FALL OUT?
When done correctly, brow lamination shouldn’t cause hair loss. However, overprocessing or poor aftercare could weaken the hairs, leading to potential shedding.

TEETH WHITENING

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A TEETH WHITENING SESSION?
Brush your teeth before your appointment, and avoid consuming staining foods or beverages for 24 hours before the treatment.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF TEETH WHITENING LAST?
Results can last 6 months to a year, depending on your diet and oral hygiene habits.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A TEETH WHITENING TREATMENT?
You may experience mild sensitivity during the treatment, which involves applying a whitening agent to your teeth and using a special light to enhance the effect.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER TEETH WHITENING?
Avoid staining foods and drinks, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, for at least 48 hours after the treatment to maintain the results.

WHAT IF MY TEETH FEEL SENSITIVE AFTER WHITENING?
Sensitivity is common and usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. Use a desensitizing toothpaste if needed.

CAN I GET TEETH WHITENING IF I HAVE FILLINGS OR CROWNS?
Teeth whitening only works on natural teeth and won’t change the color of fillings or crowns. It’s best to consult with your dentist if you have multiple restorations.

CAN TEETH WHITENING MAKE MY TEETH LOOK UNNATURALLY WHITE?
The degree of whitening is customizable. Your technician can adjust the treatment to achieve a natural look that suits your preference.

CAN I WHITEN MY TEETH IF I HAVE BRACES?
Whitening is not recommended with braces, as the product can’t reach the entire tooth surface, leading to uneven color. It’s best to wait until after the braces are removed.

BROW WAXING

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR BROW WAXING?
Ensure your skin is clean and avoid exfoliating the brow area 24 hours before your appointment to minimize irritation.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS OF BROW WAXING LAST?
Brow waxing typically lasts 3-4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN?
Inform your technician beforehand. They may use a gentler wax and apply a soothing product post-wax.

CAN I APPLY MAKEUP AFTER BROW WAXING?
It's best to avoid applying makeup on the waxed area for at least 24 hours to prevent irritation.

CAN I STILL GET BROW WAXING IF I’M USING ANTI-AGING CREAMS?
Be cautious if you’re using retinol or other anti-aging creams, as they can make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation. Inform your technician so they can adjust the treatment accordingly.

CAN I GET BROW WAXING IF I’M PREGNANT?
Yes, but pregnancy can make your skin more sensitive, so the waxing may feel slightly more uncomfortable than usual.

WILL WAXING MAKE MY BROW HAIRS GROW BACK THICKER?
No, this is a common myth. Waxing actually weakens the hair follicles over time, which can lead to finer hair regrowth.

BROW THREADING

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR BROW THREADING?
Make sure your brow area is clean and free of makeup. Avoid sun exposure or using retinol products 24 hours before your appointment.

IS BROW THREADING PAINFUL?
Pain levels vary, but threading is generally less painful than waxing. You may feel a mild, pinching sensation.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A BROW THREADING SESSION?
Your brows may appear slightly red or swollen immediately after the treatment, but this should subside within a few hours.

HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY BROW SHAPE BETWEEN THREADING SESSIONS?
Avoid plucking stray hairs yourself, as it can disrupt the shape. Use brow gel to keep the hairs in place.

CAN I GET BROW THREADING IF I’M ON MY PERIOD?
Yes, you can, but some people find their skin is more sensitive during their menstrual cycle, which might make threading feel slightly more uncomfortable.

IS IT TRUE THAT BROW THREADING CAN CAUSE WRINKLES?
No, threading doesn’t cause wrinkles. It’s a myth that the skin is pulled so much during threading that it leads to wrinkles.

CAN I GET BROW THREADING IF I HAVE ACNE OR BREAKOUTS IN MY BROW AREA?
It’s best to avoid threading directly over acne to prevent irritation. Your technician can work around the affected areas or suggest alternative methods.

BROW TINTING

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A BROW TINTING SESSION?
Ensure your brows are clean and free of makeup or oils. Avoid plucking or waxing the brows a few days before your appointment.

HOW LONG WILL THE TINT LAST?
Brow tint typically lasts 3-4 weeks, depending on your hair type and skincare routine.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER A BROW TINT?
It's best to avoid applying makeup directly on your brows for at least 24 hours after tinting to allow the tint to set properly.

WHAT IF I FIND THE TINT TOO DARK?
The tint may appear darker for the first 24-48 hours, but it will fade to the desired shade. If it remains too dark, contact your technician for advice.

CAN I GET BROW TINTING IF I HAVE VERY LIGHT OR GRAY BROWS?
Yes, brow tinting can be especially effective for light or gray brows, as it adds definition and color, making them appear fuller.

WILL THE BROW TINT STAIN MY SKIN PERMANENTLY?
The tint may stain the skin temporarily, but this typically fades within a few days. It won’t leave a permanent mark.

CAN I GO SWIMMING IMMEDIATELY AFTER BROW TINTING?
It’s best to avoid swimming for at least 24 hours after tinting to prevent the color from fading prematurely.

BROW STAINING

HOW DOES BROW STAINING DIFFER FROM TINTING?
Brow staining penetrates the skin more deeply, providing a more defined look that can last up to 6 weeks, while tinting primarily colors the brow hairs.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR BROW STAINING?
Arrive with clean, dry brows. Avoid exfoliating the brow area for a few days before the appointment to ensure the stain adheres well.

HOW CAN I MAKE MY BROW STAIN LAST LONGER?
Avoid using oil-based skincare products around your brows, and minimize exposure to water and sweat for the first 24 hours after treatment.

WHAT IF I EXPERIENCE ANY IRRITATION AFTER BROW STAINING?
Mild redness or irritation can occur, but it should subside within a few hours. If irritation persists, contact your technician.

WHAT IF I SWEAT A LOT—WILL IT AFFECT THE BROW STAIN?
Excessive sweating can cause the stain to fade more quickly, especially in the first 24 hours after application. Consider this when planning your activities.

CAN I GET BROW STAINING IF I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN?
Yes, but inform your technician so they can perform a patch test to ensure you don’t react to the stain. Sensitive skin may also mean the stain fades faster.

WILL MY BROWS LOOK TOO HARSH WITH BROW STAINING?
Initially, the stain may appear more intense, but it will soften over a few days. If you prefer a softer look, discuss this with your technician.
